First of all, I don't begrudge Susan her success. She's very brave, and although it was really overplayed by Cowell's production team, her back story at the very least indicates that she indeed deserved a break in life. And there are certainly quite a few less talented, yet successful, artists out there.
But, let's be honest here. She's not a great singer, and this is most definitely not a great album. Her voice is quite metallic, the interpretations are soulless (not really Susan's fault, though) and the production wreaks of produced sentimentality, both in musical arrangement and sound production.
So, kudos to Susan for being brave in the first place and for being a good (but not great) singer, but please let us not become duped by Simon Cowell's cynical plays again.
