This CD is clearly very popular. I heard Susan Boyle interviewed about it. She was asked how she chose the songs, she frankly responded that she "had help". Each song is beautiful and they all fit together in a wonderful way. Of course, Susan's voice is beautiful beyond description. There is a particularly good use of full orchestration in one of the cuts, and a fine and very spare use of the guitar which is impressive in at least two of the cuts that I recall. I was one of the most gung-ho Susan Boyle fans throughout the spring. I fell in love with her and her story and rooted for her triumph daily when her rough patch occurred. I ordered the CD before its release and ran to my player the minute I received it.

Although her voice is truly magical, I have to say that I am disappointed with the CD and have probably played it only three times. She certainly does demonstrate her vocal control--but that is the problem. I fell in love with a lusty, emotional performance style--a beautiful voice backed up by a great heart. These performances are so polished that the whole thing becomes background music, more like Celtic Woman than our Susan.

I am pleased that financially this album has put her in a deserved place of comfort in her life. But I hope the producers of the next album allow her to cut loose with some more raw vibrato than this sweetly done bit. I want to hear the lions that come at night more than the cozy little kitty. I would like to hear her interpretations of things ranging from Ave Maria to Climb Every Mountain and perhaps Danny Boy done in the immediate style of her first performance of I Dreamed a Dream!Get more detail about I Dreamed A Dream.
