After seeing Susan Boyle's YouTube performance, I looked forward to her CD to see if she could sustain the excitement that had built up around her. I had two friends who also wanted the CD, and I ordered three copies from Amazon.com. My friends love the music, and I play the CD over and over again in my car. I love most of the songs and just can't get over her range of style and music. The songs are different musical styles from a Beatles song to very contemporary songs that I had never heard before. She seems to caress the lyrics with her voice, and they come out as if they are encased in velvet. I am delighted with the CD and recommend it to everyone. When is the next one coming out??? I just had to buy this and I was not disappointed. In fact, it's even better than I had expected it to be. Susan sings some lovely songs, with her clear, sweet voice. Every song is a delight, the clarity of sound is really good, and the phrasing and back-up musicians add depth to her presentation. I liked her choice of songs - everything from the Mick Jagger/Keith Richards song "Wild Horses" (a beautiful rendition, the best I've heard), to "Cry Me a River", and including "Amazing Grace" and her signature tune, "I Dreamed a Dream." This CD is bound to go platinum and I highly recommend it to everyone. We all remember when she was such a sensation on Britain's Got Talent last year, and I've been looking forward to her album ever since. Amazing voice. We loved most of her selections. Was surprised she had two church hymns--could imagine her singing in church. She sings familiar songs but interprets them in a way that we actually hear the lyrics.
She reminds me of Karen Carpenter--not her vocal quality, but the emotions that she brings out of you. Just listen to her version of "Daydream Believer". The smile in her voice brings out my smiles.
