At first, I wasn't sure about it. The combination of broadway, Madonna, religious inspirational, Mick Jagger, 1950'ish songs and cocktail-loungey songs was unsettling. What type of mood would you be in to enjoy the whole smorgasboard? After a few run-throughs, her whole CD starting sticking in my head. No doubt from over 1,000 reviews here on Amazon alone, people are relating to this woman's clear voice and everyday-woman story.
If you don't want the whole smorgasboard, and want to download a few to sample, I'd recommend the song Proud, Who I Was Born to Be and a fairly loungey version of Cry Me a River.
Overall it deserves a 5-star rating for the clarity and simplicity of her pure voice. I hate, HATE, overly vibrato-"trying to hard" singers who all but screach the high notes. Not Susan, her voice is youthful and pleasing. Get more detail about I Dreamed A Dream.
