As a trained vocalist, I know what good singing is supposed to sound like. Susan Boyle is not a good singer. Her singing is forced, stilted and very artificial-sounding. A great singer makes it sound effortless, and Ms. Boyle makes it sound like it took every fiber of her being to finish a song -- this is not effortless singing.
The album is terribly over-produced as well, which, I suppose, was the producers' way of trying to hide the imperfections in her singing.
If you want to her heartfelt performances by singers who actually know what they're doing, try Maureen McGovern or Kristin Chenoweth. Don't waste your money on this one.Get more detail about I Dreamed A Dream.
