Cheapest I Dreamed A Dream

When Boyle created a Susansation at the Britain's Got Talent Show last year, a number of very negative comments were posted about her performance on the Youtube site. In response, I predicted that this woman would have a bright future, and I am pleased to see that this has, at least in the short term, become true.

I looked foward enormously to her first album, and I must confess that I was a little disappointed upon the first hearing. For this her producer Steve Mac I think must gently be blamed.

In singing, the primary relationship must always be between the music and the performer. For the duration of the performance, the teachers (which include technical staff such as producers and other support people) should keep their hands off, because a third party in the mix becomes immediately apparent, except in very rare cases, such as the Sutherland-Bonynge collaboration. While listening to Boyle's debut album, I kept on getting the idea that this wasn't entirely her performance, she was being coached from the sidelines.

Just before she went on-stage at the talent show, her words were 'I'm going to make this audience rock!,' which she thoroughly did. It was all her own work, her own personality, her own performance, her back-track, her style of singing using her voice. I'm sorry the production team had too heavy a hand in her debut album, it should also of have 'rocked the audience,' and it does not quite succeed.

It is a fabulous CD nonetheless, and although the music isn't my usual fare--I specialise in 18th- and 19th-century Italian opera--it has already started to grow on me.Get more detail about I Dreamed A Dream.
