Although DVD buff has a valid point from the pro, this CD enters the Pop music and will attract more people, when other pros can't create this much buzz in such a short time. It definitely served the purpose of the show"-Britan Gor Talent"-profitable Air time and reruns, and a followed commercial debut and some modest profit from finalists. From the business point, this album is very profitable attempt using her overnight sensation, and, rather witnessing a moment of a touching modern time Cinderella story.
And, she is an entertainer, not a professional vocalist yet. Last year Susan Boyle picked the right dramatic song she sang over decades for BGT, and it worked. And, thanks to her, this is how I got to go back and get familiar with Ruthie Hanshall and the musical again. Think about the impacts on the media alone!
To reach and entertain the broader general audience, the good voice and the talents are not the only key for the success. And, I can see how long Susan Boyle's chance will last without further vocal training and her revamped image. But, she clearly stated that her dream has come true already.
I notice that British Music industry is quite geared into Cheesy ballad songs through the winter season. And, Britons expect this kind music in the cold seasons whether they like it or not. I am sorry that she had to pick and record these easy listening songs. I wouldn't play this album during the warm seasons myself.
